Our Green Celebrity of the Day…

Coldplay, Chris Martin

They can certainly afford to shop off the rack, but Coldplay has taken it to another level. They’re making their OWN stage gear! We’re not talking about a few blurbs of an idea passed to the latest designer to tweak and turn into the new Coldplay fashion line. They actually sew it all by their little selves.

Currently on a world tour to promote their ‘Viva la Vida’ album, will bring them plenty of hotel-time for their new side project. Well done Coldplay.

“Making clothes together in our studio makes us feel complete,” says lead singer Chris Martin. “We probably sound like a group of grannies in a knitting circle but it’s the truth and it gives us some control over our visual identity. When you are a big band and everyone is taking shots at you, the more things you can do together the better. And if you’re wearing uniforms made by your own hands it helps achieve that.”

We’re well aware that making one’s own clothing is a great way to help out the environment, but it’s funny to think of Coldplay sitting around in a hotel room rocking out the needlework. Still, when they’re on tour and staying in hotels, Chris Martin says they take great pleasure in finding time to do just that. “We see if they have a sewing kit in the amenities draw in case we feel inspired.”

Product: Sonia Kashuk makeup brushes

Listen up ladies. If you’re like me and you can’t stand to use the impractical makeup brushes that come packaged with your drugstore makeup, ditch them. Get thee to your local Target and buy yourself a set of Sonia Kashuk makeup brushes for $19.99. These are one of the best beauty investments you’ll make. Each set comes with a blush brush, eyelash comb/brush, concealer brush, and several eyeshadow brushes. They are synthetic, super soft and rarely shed, unlike my Bare Escentuals set that leaves me looking like a golden retriever sat on my face after I use them. My Sonia Kashuk set has lasted me about five years and the brushes show no sign of deteriorating any time soon. Other brands from artists like Bobbi Brown and Trish McEvoy go for several times the amount I paid for my Sonia Kashuk set.
Oh, and by the way, Sonia Kashuk brushes can be wiped clean with your Pond’s facial wipes daily and left out to air dry. On the occasions when you feel they need a deeper clean, wash them with Cetaphil and water. Don’t spring for a bottle of brush cleaner ladies, it’s a waste.
