Okay lovelies…today’s post is packed with plenty-o-footballers that will surely get you through your final day of the work week. We’ve said it a gazillion times before but…come on MLS! Where are our calendars? Why do you keep our footballers under wraps? We can surely compete with this!

A little logic would state that footballers being household names in non-MLS leagues could be in part to their abundance of sexy marketing efforts. Men want to be them and women want to be with them. Case in point…Beckham Shmeckham. We have Freddy (below) in Seattle right now just waiting for another underwear contract. Every lady in the US would know his name & maybe even tune into a Sounders match to catch him in action.

A peek inside the British Cosmo Mag Charity Campaign….(raising awareness for testicular & prostate cancer)….we’ll be posting the upcoming May issue as soon as it hits.

We were a little sneeky with our handy new Blackberry on the train this week. While pretending to read my email, I snapped a shot of this fella’s savagely styled feet. My apologies for the blurriness, but I didn’t want to push my luck and start snapping away when the train came to a stop. (note: Those aren’t sweatpants he’s wearing. They are dress pants with a plaid lining. He was very nicely dressed apart from the feet.)

I really wanted to ask, ‘What are you thinking?’ In addition to the obvious faux-pas of wearing this combo, IT’S WINTER and you’re commuting! This man wasn’t running out for milk. He’s on his way to a place where he intends on wearing this all day among other people. Fascinating.

BERBER NECKLACES with CORAL

We’re very excited to announce the launch of Project NYD, our charitable division of NewYorkDesigner.com. The division has been in the works for the past few months and is now beginning to take flight. Our initial project is bringing potable water to the High Atlas region of North Africa.

After being in Morocco and driving through the Mid & High Atlas mountains, making our way to the Sahara, we saw a tiny glimpse into the lives of Berber women. These women walk up to six miles a day gathering water, firewood, mint tea leaves – you name it and they’re doing it. From a very young age, women begin this grueling lifestyle.

LOCKET in RED

We are currently partnered with a community leader in the region who is working directly with its members to build a potable water system. Our jewelry supplier, also based in Morocco, has a plethora of styles; all hand-made my local women, using indigenous materials. Project NYD distributes the line, donating 100% of the proceeds to our High Atlas water project. Upon conclusion, our goal is to bring drinking water to this community, allowing women more time with their children and families in addition to minimizing disease.
