shiny-hairBrand: Dove
Product: Dove Shine Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner

The Dove brand has been disappointing me a lot lately. Like most women, I ADORE their Campaign for Real Beauty. Although I know that the campaign was a stroke of marketing genius and it has made the company a boatload of cash, I appreciate the sentiment behind the ads. So, I want to LOVE their products. The simple fact is that I’ve found the majority of the line mediocre at best. Sure, The classic beauty bar and the cream oil body wash are Holy Grail items for me, but the entire skin care line is a bust as far as I’m concerned. I actually found the Go Fresh line to be less exciting than watching televised bowling. The shampoos that I’ve sampled from the brand have been, well, awful. So, I honestly did not hold out much hope for Dove Shine Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner.

I picked up the Shine Therapy duo on a whim because my hair was looking a little dull and drab, and, being a mommy, my funds are better spent on stocking stuffers (’tis the season!) than a highlighting session. Sometimes, having low expectations can be a good thing. There’s few things as satisfying as thinking something will suck only to discover that it most certainly does not suck! Dove Shine Therapy shampoo and conditioner DOES NOT SUCK! Not even a little. These products are the opposite of Suck.

Dove claims that these products contain a repairing serum that repairs cuticles and gently removes buildup. I can’t speak to all that. What I can tell you is that it lathers nicely and rinses cleanly. There is a faint fragrance, but not one that anyone would likely swoon over. That’s okay by me as I don’t want the scent of my shampoo to compete with my perfume. Use of both products left my hair shiny, manageable and soft. I even think my fine hair feels thicker when I use it! Overall, they are wonderful products.

Dove Shine Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner are on sale at Walgreens right now. A 12 ounce bottle will only set you back $2.99.

cisse1Racism runs rampant in football. Djibril Cisse is the latest player to hit the newswires from an incident occuring during a Greece friendly. The 28-year-old French player was on the receiving end of remarks by some spectators during the friendly between his team and Olympiakos Volos on Sunday.

“After I scored the goal I went to the fans and told them to shut up and they threw bottles at me, and I threw one back at them,” Cisse said.

It’s an issue that goes beyond the fans. Football’s governing bodies have become involved due to issues involving managers, players and refs. Guidelines are being put in place for proper penalties against those involved in these cases.

Two active groups that have taken the matter into their hands are Football Against Racism (FARE) and Kick it Out.

Ironically, as we write this BBC News has flashed a shot of a bloody Algerian footballer on the screen. The story? As the Algerian national team arrived to play Egypt in a World Cup qualifier match, Egyptian fans began stoning the Algerian players.

Panathinaikos striker Djibril Cisse has threatened to report Greek fans to European football governing body UEFA following the racist insults.
