LOreal lipstickBrand: L’Oreal
Product: Colour Riche Lipstick in Sugar Plum

So, I was reading Clement Moores’s classic “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” to my son when my mind wandered to lipstick. I’m mother of the year, I know. Don’t judge me. Anyhoo, the line about “sugar plums dancing” reminded me of a fashion spread with Penelope Cruz in which she wore L’Oreal Sugar Plum lipstick. My love for L’Oreal lipsticks is well-documented. I love the name “Sugar Plum” for a lipstick. I love Penelope Cruz as an actress. (Check out Blow if you’ve never seen it.) So I was curious if an alabaster Irish gal could pull off the same lipstick as a sultry Spanish beauty.
The answer surprisingly, is YES! The lipstick is not at all opaque or purple-toned the way it’s name might suggest. It’s actually fairly sheer and more pinker-hued. It provides just a pop of healthy, fresh color. Think, less “wine and cheese party” and more “let’s hit the slopes!” Of course, I’d rather throw Russian kettle balls while standing on my head than actually go skiing, but I don’t mind looking like I know my way around a Black Diamond, or, whatever.
L’Oreal Colour Riche lipsticks retail for $8.95 and are BOGO at Drugstore.com this week.
