Did you know that 90% of homeless adults need a new, warm coat each winter because they have no place to keep one over the summer months? But it’s not just homeless people who need our help; thousands of New Yorkers each year are forced to make a choice between buying a winter coat and putting food on the table, or meeting other basic survival needs.

New York Cares collects nearly 70,000 gently used winter coats each December and distributes them to thousands of men, women, and children who would otherwise be cold.

Donate your gently used coats (between December 1 – 31) at the following locations:

Weekdays 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.* (Morning commute only)
Grand Central Terminal (Graybar Passage)
New York Penn Station (LIRR and Amtrak concourses)
New York Port Authority Bus Terminal (Main concourse, 42nd Street entrance)
*Transportation terminals cannot accept coat donations on weekends or after 9:30 a.m. on weekdays.

While one gets wrapped up in the holiday season, they may lose their mind a little bit when it’s time to choose the right outfit. Sometimes thinking, the more sequins – the more festive I must look. (nope)

A great sequined look is keeping it to one piece or one accessory. Another tip is to limit how much skin shows. If you prefer a micro-mini, then do it up and really make your legs pop by covering the arms. Liking the tight legging look? Again, flaunt the legs by creating a baggier look on top. You get it.

Common mistakes include: too many sequins, mixing the wrong colors, the ho’ish look, and then the always present tight-sequined-tank-dress compliments of Victoria’s Secret. Be confident with your own body shape – own it and wear what flatters your most appealing asset(s). There are some dresses out there that should only be made in a size 2. Don’t be fooled.

…..but, maybe this year Chanel just does not fit your budget.  Fear not.  You can still smell all kinds of warm and sexy with a spritz of BBW’s Twilight Woods.  With notes of oud and cashmere woods, mimosa and frangiapani, Twilight Woods is a welcome departure from BBW’s normal fare, which I consider rather bubble-gum and cloying.  Twilight Woods is womanly enough for those of us who wish not to smell like the Britneys and Paris’ of the world.  Yet, I’m sure the name “Twilight Woods” was no accident.  These days, anything affixed with the name “Twilight” is sure to sell in droves as teeny boppers are sure to associate the name with the popular film franchise.  Well played Bath and Body Works.  SOMEONE in your think tank got a hefty Christmas bonus this year.  Pre-teens are dropping their allowances on this faster than Paris drops her drawers, well, anywhere, I’m sure.

     I like it.  I wish it lasted longer.  I also wish I could wear it without thinking about creepy, brooding, teenage vampires.  However, at $29 for 2.5 ounces, these complaints are trivial, really.
