Tuesdays with The Cost Cutting Cutie
Product: Danskin at Walmart
I’ve become a bit of a gym rat in recent years. I love to work out. The problem is that I hate the clothes I wear to the gym. While I scoff at the women who workout in full makeup and match their sneakers to their workout clothes, the truth is that I wouldn’t mind wearing some cute workout gear myself. But alas, you’re more likely to find me there in paint stained sweatpants and one of my husbands castoff t-shirts.
On a recent trip to Walmart I found myself transfixed by a colorful display of Danskin workout-wear. I stood, mouth agape, staring at the prices while my numbers obsessed three-year-old squealed “Five dollars! Seven dollars!” Indeed, that was cause for excitement, and of course I was determined to return home with at least one adorable workout outfit.
One outfit was all I could manage. I’m not sure whether to blame Walmart or Danskin, but there were virtually no mediums to be found on the crammed racks. I returned home with a black cotton/polyester blend t-shirt and a pair of gray cotton/spandex blend drawstring sweatshorts. Perhaps not colorful, but serviceable and cute enough.
The clothes fit well and washed well. My ass did not hang out of the back of the shorts, (take note Nike). I did not have to halt my workout to either hike up my shorts or dislodge a wedgie. The tee was quite breathable. In short, it was twelve dollars well spent. If the selection had been better, I’d have considered giving the clothes five stars. The rack of XXL’s left me scratching my head though. Perhaps these are the people that should be working out, but clearly, they are not.
