KSFacialBrand: Kirkland Signature/Costco
Product: Daily Facial Cleansing Towelettes

Ahhhh, sweet redemption. You might remember that I wrote a scathing review of Coscto’s “inspired by Dove” beauty bar several weeks ago. You may also remember that I dubbed it “suck in bulk”. Well, if Costco’s beauty bar is “suck in bulk”, then their Daily Facial Cleansing Towelettes can be described as “gloriousness in bulk”. Alcohol free and infused with Chamomile, Triple Tea Complex and Vitamin E, they seem to be the very definition of gentle. They truly could be used daily and nightly! Add to that goodness of the mild scent of aloe and the towelette is simply the best I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried my share. One needs only one towelette to remove one’s makeup and feel refreshed.
At $11 for 150 it is one hell of a glorious deal!

neutrogena wash
Brand: Neutrogena
Product: Deep Clean Gentle Scrub

Everyone knows that makeup is best worn over clean, moisturized, exfoliated skin.  The problem is that most exfoliators are extremely harsh and strip skin of healthy oils.  I got turned on to Clinique’s 7 Day Scrub several years ago.  I’m a sucker for free samples and Clinique hooked me big time with this product.  A creamy exfoliator is genius for those of us with dry or sensitive skin.  It lived up to its name, it was so gentle that I really could use it seven days a week.

At $18.00 for 3.4 ounces, about the only flaw I could find with Clinique’s 7 Day Scrub was the price.  After finally depleting my supply, I decided I had to find a less expensive alternative.  It took some trial and error, but I did find some less pricy but completely worthy alternatives.

One of my new favorite scrubs is Neutrogena’s Deep Clean Gentle Scrub.  Like most, if not all Neutrogena products, this scrub is oil free.  That’s not exactly a selling point for me, but it seems like everyone these days looks specifically for oil free products.  The product is rich and creamy, and yes, very gentle.  The scrub contains microbeads that exfoliate softly.  It also contains beta hydroxy which deep cleans as it exfoliates, thus rendering a separate cleanser unnecessary. The rich lather rinsed clean and reveals skin that glows. Neutrogena’s Deep Clean Gentle Scrub retails at Walgreen’s for $5.24 for a 4.2 ounce tube. The only drawback is that I wish it didn’t smell like a Creamsicle.

Brand:  Walgreen’s

Product:  Gentle Skin Cleanser

Heads up ladies.  Did you know that Walgreen’s makes their own version of Cetaphil facial cleanser?  It’s true, and it’s fab.  Fans of Cetaphil’s original formula should take note.  Walgreen’s has not yet changed their version to mimic the “new and improved version” that Cetaphil recently trotted out.  That means no weird fragrance.  It also means a creamy texture as compared with the thin gel-like consistency of the “new and improved” Cetaphil.  Sure, the “new and improved” Cetaphil is great, but the original was superb.  I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to have discovered Walgreen’s version of the original.  By the way, I didn’t think it could be possible, but I actually think I like the Walgreen’s version better.  My face seems more smooth and luminous since I’ve been using it.  Of course the fact that I bought 16 ounces of the Walgreen’s version for the price of 8 ounces of Cetaphil might have colored my opinion somewhat.  Walgreen’s Gentle skin cleanser retails at $7.99 for 16 ounces.  Stock up before Walgreen’s revamps their formula.
