Brand: Wet ‘n Wild
Product: CoverAll Stick Concealer

So, I have a confession to make. As thrifty as I am, I tend to avoid the cheapie of all cheapie cosmetic brands: Wet ‘n Wild. The reason is silly. I hate the name of the company! I like to think that I’m above having my opinion swayed by things like product packaging and brand names, but that simply ain’t so. I tend to head for the Revlon and L’Oreal displays because I find the packaging to be classier. Although I love their mascara, I find the name Cover Girl a bit cheesy. I’m cute, but I ain’t never gonna be no Cover Girl.

The name Wet ‘n Wild conjures up images of late night infomercials that hawk videos of filthy skanks doing naked keg stands on Spring Break. I see Joe Francis’ skeazy face whenever I pass a Wet ‘n Wild display. Be assured, I am no makeup snob. Even if I adored it as much as everyone else seems to, I would never buy Nars Orgasm Blush. Call me a prude, I just feel foolish.

Rant aside, I recently decided that I needed to add some concealer to my arsenal. Money is tight, and since I’ve never used concealer before I figured I’d start at the bottom and work my way up untilI found my Holy Grail. At $1.99 a tube, Wet ‘N Wild CoverAll concealer stick was by far the least expensive option available to me. So I bought one. No.Big.Deal. The sixteen year old cashier barely looked up from her copy of Twilight. Why should her opinion of me matter anyway?

I used it and I liked it. The texture was creamy but not heavy, it blended well and covered the blue veins under my eyes very nicely. I made it work with both mineral and liquid foundation. At $1.99 a tube it is probably the best cosmetic deal going. I’d even give it five lips if not for the abysmal shade selection. With three color options (fair, fair/medium and medium), many women are left without a color match. Olive skinned and Asian women might be able to pull off the medium shade, but that shade certainly is not appropriate for African-American or Hispanic lovelies. Its time for Wet ‘N Wild to step up their game, don’t you think?
