‘The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion’ was the main theme of this year’s Costume Institute Gala at the Met. Fashion’s most glamorous night, celebrating 50 years of the supermodel was hosted by Kate Moss, teaming up with Justin Timberlake, Marc Jacobs and Anna Wintour.

The annual event spotlights the iconic models who have worked at the forefront of the industry since 1947 – widely acknowledged as the year the profession took flight because top agency Ford Models was founded then. Many of them on the arm of their favorite designer and naturally wearing that designer head to toe.

Speaking to WWD, Jacobs explained the concept: ‘The idea of muses or models, whether it is someone you know or someone you have seen in an image, someone of your imagination or a creature of your own invention, is important to every designer and every collection,’ he explained.
