Covent Garden is the spot during LFW if you’re seeking out the newest talent to stake their claim on the catwalk. They’ve all got their eye on the prize, which consists of Donatella Versace presenting the winner with the 2009 Fashion Fringe Award. This year’s four SS10 finalists are: Elliot Atkinson, JENA THEO, LIDIJA&DEJAN and Yelena Smirnova. Congratulations to Jena Theo for taking home this year’s prize.
The Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden initiative was founded six years ago to find, nurture and sustain young designers wishing to live and work in London. The winners are provided with guidance from experts to help set up their own design business. Donatella is the honorary chair.
Serbian designers Lidija & Dejan were all about draping and chains while Yelena Smirnova featured smooth-flowing organza and chiffon. Elliot Atkinson, whose cutouts and sheer panels brought a more contemporary note to the catwalk.
