Okay sweeties, here’s the question – are you really doing your part to be green, eco, and all the other fashionable terms out there to save our fabulous planet? (No, we’re not encouraging the use of PVC gloves for your green cleaning. It was a quick image to slap up there for deadline.)

 

Yes, we realize it can be a daunting task for the newbies, but it’s all about the baby steps. Once we got our feet wet, we realized it’s as overwhelming or as simple as you make it.

 

Another factor to consider…you’ll be saving $$ along the way. That $4.99 furniture polish can cost you as little as 3 minutes of your time & MAYBE $.37 in cash. With the economy in the crapper, what’s to lose?

 

We’re sharing a few tools to get you started. Put on your creative feathered-fedora and get mixing & matching….

 

  • Isopropyl Alcohol – GREAT disinfectant
  • Cornstarch – used to clean windows, polish furniture, shampoo carpets
  • Soap – unscented soap in liquid form, flakes, powders or bars is biodegradable & will clean just about anything. Avoid using soaps which contain petroleum distillates
  • Baking Soda – the multi-tasker. Cleans, deodorizes, softens water & scours
  • Lemons – one of the strongest food-acids, effective against most household bacteria

 

 

Weekly recipe:

 

Furniture Polish

1 cup olive oil

½ cup lemon juice

 

Mix ingredients in a bowl

funnel into a spritzy bottle (found at your local $.99 stores)

Shake & spray – voila!
