fashion week

As we referenced from the New York shows, it was touch and go for a minute for a few of the models at Herve Leger. Just check out Monica “Jac” Jagaciak below. She pulled it off though – NEVER fully hitting the floor. Thing is, we almost wiped out yesterday crossing 5th Avenue. The mix: 2.5″ heels on concrete. The mix over at Herve Leger: 6″ heels meet freshly polished runway. It’s like the Perfect Storm for model-mishaps.

In more important news…check out a sampling of the shoes worn at London Fashion Week. We’ve seen such a plethora of styles – platforms, stilettos, gladiator’ish, ankle boots, thigh-high boots – you name it. We’re still loving the vibe that is beaming from the London collections, which seems to be ‘anything goes’. And this is not in a scandalous way. It is making a statement to women that there is no mold. That is a vibe we can relate to and appreciate.

As Bryant Park begins dismantling later today, London is in full fashion force with events kicking off today (and some last night) for their Fall 09/10 collections.

Before jumping across the pond though, take a peek at the styles wrapping up the Vivienne Tam and Isaac Mizrahi shows. Now we can’t tell you how many designers we started to feature, only to come across a pelt, wrap, fringe or full on skin which will NOT be featured here. Not until of course, we feature our Shame on You list which will spotlight a few of those designers more concerned about flash than humanity. We’re not trying to force our politics on you, it honestly just kinda creeps us out while amazing us at how many designers can’t keep their hands off the fuzzy bits.

Miss Sixty took a bashing in a few reviews for the acid wash (not our fave either) but their use of faux fur and Liechtenstein bits are another fun item for Fall.

This is the way to do fancy schmancy, but why such extreme pouts? It almost draws your eye to the models’ expressions rather than the detail in the gowns.

Anna Sui always gets it right. Another one of our faves.

Proenza Schouler showed a lot of dresses, but we personally preferred the close fitting top/bottoms. Definitely a stronger look in our opinion.
