It was inevitable. The short puffer is now on our radar. The full length cuts just aren’t working for us.

I’ll say it again…these coats have to be the most unstylish thing EVER created. Yet we need one…badly. We need one primarily because it’s only December and if what we saw last week is a quick preview of what’s on the menu for this winter, our current selection of outerwear is not going to cut it.

We’re liking the pop of color in this waist-cut puffer but there’s still not a whole lot of razzle in it.

and this little number is a whopping $659, ON SALE! It definitely has the most style. It definitely caught our eye. Thing is, we can’t justify laying down that much $$ for a coat we’re not that keen on buying in the first place. We must say though, if you’re a fan of puffers – this one is a keeper.

The other contender is blue. We chose this for our short list simply because it comes in a color other than white, brown or black.

We’re headed to Montreal in 11 days and still remain pufferless. *sigh*

Love it or hate it, the puffer is absolutely everywhere. I know this because when the temps hit freezing in NYC on Monday, purchasing one of these lovelies became my mission to ensure I’m prepared next time. I’ve made it through many winters without one but for some reason I took notice to how happy & content everyone wearing one appeared to be. This compared to me, who was absolutely freezing my butt off in a red velvet vintage piece with no substance.

Thing is, I’m still empty handed. They just don’t appeal to me. I don’t know what else designers can do to these wearable sleeping bags to make them more stylish, but there must be something. Once I got my head around the fact that this purchase is solely for function, I decided the key difference among them is how fitted they are.

I started with full-length only, but may start looking for waist cuts. We had to walk away after a bit. They just all looked the same after awhile and we felt like we were banging our head against a wall. The puffer is certainly not a product that offers much individuality.

This Michael Kors looks great on BUT (big but here…) he used REAL FUR on the hood. nope – back on the rack.

Tried this on but the belt looks hideous on me. I’m tall and the belt doesn’t work. The coat is great though.

This one is on our short list.

ugh…maybe we’ll just wear a heavy sweater under our red velvet vintage piece.
