L’Oreal

Brand: L’Oreal
Product: Studio Secrets Magic Souffle Foundation

I admit, the concept is gimmicky, but I’m a sucker for L’Oreal marketing. I’m also a sucker for souffle. What girl isn’t? Oh, those evil-genius L’Oreal marketers! They got me again, (not that that’s a bad thing).

This product is really fantastic. Light as air, it never feels heavy or mask-like. It covers beautifully, and worn over L’Oreal’s Studio Secrets primer, it lasts through even the most marathon-like days. It minimizes
pores and truly delivers that airbrushed effect everyone seems to be after. It’s luminous and natural and just amazing really.

It is not without its drawbacks, however. First, this can’t be worn if you have any dry patches as it will cling to flakes. You must exfoliate and moisturize well before use. Second, it comes in a jar, which is a deal breaker for many hygene freaks. I suggest using a foundation brush and stipling it on. Don’t use your fingers! Third, there doesn’t seem to be many color options for women with darker skin tones. Finally, the price is a bit steep. At $15.99 a jar, it is still a better deal than department store brands, sure. However, your $15.99 only buys .67 fluid ounces. Yikes! The good news is that a little does go a long way. I’ve only been using this product for a week, but I’ll update and let you all know how long a jar actually lasts.

Brand: L’Oreal
Product: Shimmering Hair Coloring in Starlet

I’ve been dying my hair off an on for about five years. I became tired of the cost of professional highlights, and those self highlighting kits at the drugstore reeked of effort. Box dyeing seemed my best bet. I wasn’t thrilledwith the results I got with Garnier and Clairol, so L’Oreal Preference became my color brand of choice. I’ve always been happy with my color results.

The new year aroused a desire for a little change. I got my sassy new haircut at Great Clips and then swung by my local Walgreen’s to pick up a new box of hair color. I decided that I wanted to stay blond, but I wouldn’t mind a brighter, bolder color. I stayed within the L’Oreal brand but selected something from the more cutting-edge Feria line.

So far, I’m loving the results. I know that I’m little more than a week into the color, and it remains to be seen how quickly the color will fade, but I’ve gotten so many compliments on the color (and that has never happened to me before), that I felt the need to share. Starlet, on my naturally dark blond hair develops into a glistening, and indeed shimmering, buttery blond. It imparts multi-tonal color with tons of highlights without the “obviously dyed” look. The color was quick to develop, only taking 20 minutes for the whole head and theprocess was gentle, (no burning scalp, ouch!).

For $10, I don’t think you can buy better color results.

Product: HIP Studio Secrets Color Chrome Eyeliner

Here’s the thing, I LOATHE eyeliner pencils. They tug, they pull, and they almost never glide effortlessly. I’ve always preferred to line my eyes with shadow for these reasons. That being said, I’ve been obsessed with finding the perfect violet liner for almost my entire adult life. I believe I’ve finally found it, and it is in fact, a pencil liner. Vivid and long-wearing, HIP Color Chrome eyeliners neither tug nor pull. Violet Volt is a true-blue based violet, not plum. Fair skinned gals take note: You eyes will not looked bruised, I promise.

HIP Studio Secrets Color Chrome Eyeliner isn’t cheap. At $10 a pop, it is outrageously pricey for a drugstore eyeliner. It’s almost as pricey as the department store brands. BOGO is the way to go if you want one of these babies.
