I think I’m in love with Maidenform. So maybe they’re not the first company to come to mind when you think of sexy lingerie. But, if you want high quality, functional, affordable, every day pieces, I don’t think anybody can beat this company.

I’m a fairly new convert to shapewear. I began wearing it after the birth of my first son. Because I didn’t know any better, I shelled out big bucks for Spanx. Now that I have a bit of a shapewear education, however, my go-to company is Maidenform. I’ve already written of my love for their Control It briefs. Now I must sing the praises of their Flexees One Fabulous Body Camisole.

The camisole is seamless and tagless and, as quality shapewear should, it is undetectable under clothing. The piece has molded cups and an underwire that provides shape. Simply buy or order your bra size. The camisole is supposed to eliminate inches from your silhouette. I’m not sure if it necessarily does that, but it certainly does smooth and shape and optimize the fit of your clothes. I’d give it five stars if it only lifted the girls just a tiny bit more!

   For the love of God, if I hear one more insipid film ingenue tell me that I too can eat nothing but pizza and Ben and Jerry’s and forgo my daily Cardio Kill class as long as I arm myself with a pair of SPANX, I will stab myself with a stiletto.  Rationally, I knew the parade of Jessica’s touting these panties were full of shit, but even I was no match for the hype.  I succumbed to the relentless media blitz after the birth of my first son.  I was going to a wedding, was feeling like a whale, and I needed a miracle. Suddenly, I had to have my own pair of Spanx. Though I still believe these celebrities can fill a latrine with their crap about not dieting and exercising, I do believe SPANX to be a fabulous product.

SPANX is like liposuction in a cardboard box. It virtually eliminates excess inches ensuring the most impeccable fit possible for your clothing. There are no seams or tags, so the shapewear is not only comfortable, but undetectable under clothes. About the only thing I DON’T like about SPANX is the price. A single pair of panties retails for $30 on the SPANX website. I once jealously guarded my SPANX reserving them only for the most special of special ocassions.

Then God gave us Maidenform’s CONTROL IT line. Their high waist briefs are every bit as fabulous as SPANX at a fraction of the cost. A two-pack retails at various online sites for about $24. If you have a Costco card you can purchase a 2-pack for under $12.00! At those prices, a gal can be shapely every day. So go ahead, skip Cardio Kill tonight and indulge in some Cherry Garcia. Maidenform will help you Control It tomorrow.
