ChevonneWinteryLada Gaga meets Bette Midler?

Who’s that funk-nasty Jersey girl with the mile-high pink ‘fro? She’s CHEVONNE, a one-girl girl group – songstress, vocals, keys, sax – a pop/funk/soul scream machine.

“Too much all the time” is how Chevonne describes her style. We applaud that decision and encourage more to indulge in it. How fun if we all tossed the cotton ready-to-wear from our armoires, only to be replaced with taffetta, tulle, underwires and gold lamé? Yes, it would be a wonderful life!

Listen to Ball Drop here. One of four tracks from her recently released holiday-inspired EP.

From a recent holiday interview:
Heeb Mag: What are you working on right now?
Chevonne: Well, I really like this new thing where you can have a single, release it and totally ride the wave of that one song. I have these two songs that I’ve been working on. When all the holiday stuff dies on New Year’s Day, I’ll probably be performing those two songs in the gay club scene, or maybe the hipster scene, or whatever scene will embrace me, I suppose.

Chevonne recently performed at the ADD-TV 6th Annual PILL Awards, alongside legendary DJ Junior Vasquez, DJ Die J! Mars from The House Of Field, Bebe Zahara Benet (RuPaul’s Drag Race) and Malan Breton (Project Runway) to name a few.

The Lemonheads have a new release (6/23) featuring all covers, which include Kate Moss & Liv Tyler lending their vocals on two tracks. Kate’s version of Dirty Robots…

Lead singer, Evan Dando, offers some insight into the album’s title, Varshon, and more.

What, exactly, is a “Varshon”? It’s how English people say “version,” like “Ello, let’s record a new varshon.” It’s phonetic.

And you have great well-wishing friends, like Kate Moss and Liv Tyler, who duet with you on “Varshons”? Kate’s an old, old friend, who I met through Liv. And she was the perfect voice for that disdainful track, “Dirty Robot.” And the duet with Liv was something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time. I put her on the B-side of a “Baby I’m Bored” single, and she said, “Why did I get on a B-side?” So I said. “Don’t worry! I’ll put you on the album next time.”
