NYFW

Tuxedo tails, sleeping-bag coats, fur trims, ethnic prints, black leather skirts and dresses, and motorcycle jackets are all looks that have shown up on numerous runways so far during Fashion Week.

A recap of the week…

Victorian Beckham sat front row at her show, narrating each piece to the two rows of guests seated at her intimate townhouse setting. It worked. Both the show’s staging and line of effortless, real clothes were once again given rave reviews by the often hard-to-please fashion crowd. The florals and Kenyan prints that made Suno known took center stage. Liv Tyler and Chloe Sevigny were front row at Proenza Schouler eyeing the patent shearling coats, velvets, fringes and the occasional crocheted piece. Isaac Mizrahi was all about whimsical with poodle poufed hair on the models as they walking with a color coordinated pooch to match their gown. The Cake Boss was also thrown into the mix with matching cakes. Guests at the Michael Kors 30th anniversary show saw disco draped jersey gowns, earth tones and layers. Marc Jacobs went glam with long gold leather skirts, cropped trousers and a heavy 70s influence. Rodarte was about the crochet, geometric panels and sequins on tulle to create a hodgepodge of textures that really came together.

A happy friday to all! We leave you with The Blonds…

As New York Fashion Week winds down, buyers, models, press and crews of all sorts will be bidding adieu to the 60 degrees about to hit the Big Apple as they descend upon Londontown and become emerged in LFW festivities.

The A La Mode shows have sparked a buzz that landed Berit New York on our radar. F.I.T. grad, Britney Frady-Williams, will return to London Fashion Week after the success of last season’s debut show to showcase her new A/W 11 collection from her label ‘Berit New York’. The designer’s vintage-meets-futuristic trademark is expected to once again be the focus and as we’ve seen at NYFW this season, it’s all about blending contrasting fabrics which is no stranger to this line. Last season, it was Berit’s unique use of contrasting metallics and historical influences with a futuristic twist that peaked the interest of buyers and press. What will this season hold?
