It has come to my attention that you have recently come out with a facial moisturizer that contains SPF. I can’t believe it only took you about twenty years to develop a formula. It must be exhausting to continuously remain ahead of the latest skin care trends. Kudos. Unfortunately, the SPF is available only in a lotion form and marketed for “all skin types”. Of course I understand that “all skin types” is code for the 10% of the population blessed with a peaches and skin complexion and no sensitivities. So, I guess I’ll check your website again in another twenty years. Maybe by then you’ll have figured out how to incorporate an SPF in moisturizers suitable for us dry skinned girls and our oily faced sisters.

Girl, you know I love you. I’ve never hidden my girl crush. I’ve raved about your products. For the love of God, listen to me. Whoever made the distribution deal for your product line needs to be taken to task stat. I’m talking some serious finger wagging her. (Unemployment is terrible right now, and I would never suggest that anyone should lose their job). I implore you to prevail upon him/her to distribute your line in stores besides CVS and Ulta. I don’t even know where the nearest Ulta is, and your phenomenal foundation is frequently sold out at my local CVS. When it turns up again, I shall be forced to buy out the entire stock so that I shall never again know another day without it. I’ve been watching those shows on hoarding. Fear of doing without is generally the impetus of hoarding. This could potentially become an illness. You are too nice to let this fate happen to me, your biggest fan. I hear people really love that Target
place!

Okay, let me begin by pinky swearing that I am not in any way shape or form affiliated with Sally Hansen and/or Carmindy. I promise I’m not receiving kickbacks of any kind, (not even one lousy free sample). What can I say ladies, Sally and Carmindy have got a good thing going on and I am hell bent on making sure their joint product launch is not a casualty of this awful economy. I’ve loved almost everything from this brand, and I would hate to see these products disappear from the shelves. It’s bad enough that the line is in such limited distribution, for it to vanish completely would simply be too much to bear.

As far as I’m concerned, a great shade of blush is the best way for almost any woman to look instantly rested, healthy and youthful. For pale skinned women like me, it is also the best way to keep over-zealous morticians from tagging your toe. Blush was laid to rest for a while in the nineties when brown lips and heroin-chic were the rage, but Nars brought blush back from the dead with their little blockbuster called Orgasm. These days Orgasm has become the benchmark by which all other blushes are measured. It supposedly duplicates the flush one might develop after a quick romp in an elevator. Personally, I always thought Orgasm, with its excess of glitter, was highly over-rated and unnatural looking. I did believe that if the glitter were subtracted from the equation, the coral-pink color of Nars Orgasm would be nothing short of genius.

As if they could read my very thoughts, Sally and Carmindy created their Natural Powder Blush in Cherub, and I’m in heaven. The silky formula glides on beautifully and blends effortlessly. It lasts all day long and without the glitter, it is as appropriate for the boardroom as it is for the bedroom. Also, the lack of glitter means there will be no sparkles to settle in and emphasize any fine lines that you may have. The packaging is sturdy and cute, and thankfully does not come with one of those useless plastic brushes that brands like Cover Girl and Maybelline insist on filling our landfills with. At $10.99, it’s at least half the price of Nars Orgasm. Remember, CVS runs frequent BOGOS, so if you wait until it’s on promotion, you’ll really get a steal. Furthermore, if you decide Cherub just isn’t the shade for you, there are six other lovely shades to choose from.

Product: Sheerest Cream Bronzer – Miami Glow

I am a fair skinned gal. I’m not ashamed of it. I accept it. For the most part, I don’t mind. Sure, there was that period in the early part of the millennium where everyone seemed to be sporting an orange glow, from insipid actresses like Lindsay Lohan to Acadamy Award winning screen sirens like Charlize Theron. But, surely the Oompah Loompah look is easier to carry off when you’re either stoned or encased in a form fitting sheath and accessorized with an Oscar statuette. Well, the strongest drug that I take is Nyquil. Most days I’m wearing an apron and accessorized with a spatula. The Oompah Loompah look just isn’t for me.
Actresses like Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon have given us fair skinned gals some hope. But, I must admit that sometimes in the dead of winter I become a bit self-conscious about my lack of pigment. Fair skin can be pretty, sure….but blue veins under the eyes? Not so much. The problem is that I don’t believe in tanning, self-tanners turn me orange, and powder bronzers make me look either dirty or like a disco ball.
I recently began using a sheer cream bronzer by Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy. I found it at CVS for $11.99. As I’ve posted before, I’m a fan of Carmindy and her show What Not to Wear. I’m also a huge advocate of her new affordable makeup line with Sally Hansen. I have purchased, used and loved several items from her line, but I held out on the cream bronzer because, frankly, the concept scared me. I’d never used a cream bronzer before and I worried about its blendability. As it turned out, I needn’t have worried or held out so long. This stuff rocks. It comes with an angled brush that you sweep lightly across the compact. Applied and blended into the temples, cheekbones and the bridge of my nose it created a color so subtle and natural I needed a chair to sit down in. Seriously, I was that blown away. No sparkles, no glitter no muddiness to speak of. The texture is phenomenal. You won’t feel it at all and it won’t cause any breakouts. I’ve worn it over both cream and mineral foundations with nary a problem. The pot is also generous and comes in three different colors to match your skintone. Fair skinned girls this is your Holy Grail. Search no longer.
