D-and-G3

A little D&G and Versace for your Thursday morning. Why is it so cold so fast in NYC?
Anyway, cowgirl travels to the big city. That seems to be the underlying theme at D&G for Spring 2010. Thoughts?
We recognize the laziness of today’s post, but we’re running beyond late and still have to pack for our flight. In case we can’t steal some internet time while away, we send our Happy Weekend thoughts out to all now!

DynastyBelieve us when we say we heart the 80′s…the neon, Bananarama, Moon Unit, the crazy kids of St Elmo’s Fire & on & on. There have been bits & pieces of this decadent, self-indulgent era trickling into various designers’ lines but we’re still waiting for the full on surge. And with krimping iron in hand, we are armed and ready to show our support. BUT…(as my mother would say, “big but here…”) we will NOT, I repeat NOT, do the shoulder pad thang.

Granted the updated versions aren’t as obnoxious as the originals, but we don’t like how many we’re seeing. The reason? You know there’s going to be one celebrity out there needing to out-do the rest, bringing some gigundo shoulder pads to the red carpet which will in turn bring them immediately to the malls. Presto – an entire generation is sporting the authentic Dynasty-sized babies. The horror.

The headband, hmmmmm. It’s a style we can’t comment on objectively because it’s not one we are privy to.

Either…1) our head is a wonky shape or 2) we haven’t found the right match in headwear. You see whenever we’ve attempted this look, the first (and final) 20 minutes of trying to make it work consist of trying to keep it from popping off our head.

It’s a shame too because there are some great pieces on the market that would look amazing in our accessories collection. So until we resolve the source of our problem, we’ll admire from afar as others frolic in the headband trend. (is it a trend if it’s been around since the 30s?)

Our picks? If you’re going to wear a headband, OWN it! (i.e., Juliette and this lovely Victorian’ish looking woman – clearly our favorite headband-wearers)
