As the mags are now showing us all the goodies in store for Spring 2011, I thought what a good idea to reflect on what we have in store now. And with all the snowed-in fashionistas out there, it’s an ideal day to grab the hot chocolate, laptop and peruse away.

We’re starting our Top 5 list with The Affordables; a collection from the top chains and available to all via their online stores.

I wouldn’t say the 80s influence is back, as much as I would first have to ask…Did this style ever really leave us? Many of you detest it, we get that. However, take a minute to consider the pros…baggy, comfortable, ripped, shredded, loads of cotton and you can never have too many accessories. It almost sounds like a Saturday-afternoon-lounging-around-the-apartment style that you get to wear in public. Yes, intentionally omitted from the list is the 80s ubiquitous shoulder pads but we’ll just skim over that bit.

When checking out the new arrivals section of TopShop’s website you can’t help but be mowed over by this generation. It looks like a high school yearbook from 1985. And not that that’s a bad thing. It’s fun and that’s exactly what sums up the overindulgent generation that inspired this look.

I think it’s when the masses turn once again to the krimping iron that we can truly say the 80s have returned.
