Pro-X Cleansing System

Brand: Olay
Product: Pro-X Cleansing System

The Clarisonic Cleansing System gets tons of positive press, but I’ve never been able to pull the trigger. At over $100 a pop, I just couldn’t justify the expense. Fairly recently Olay came out with a cleansing system that many in the beauty industry regard as a great alternative. Although it does not use the same sonic technology as the Clarisonic, the handheld, vibrating facial brush gently deep cleans and exfoliates. Olay claims that it cleanses skin up to six times better than washcloth cleansing and that it helps optimize the absorption of moisturizers.
I was lucky enough to win the Olay Pro-X system at a silent auction, and I’m sold. This gadget truly is gentle enough to use daily and really does reveal brighter more evenly toned skin. At $26.99 at Amazon, it is an affordable alternative to the Clarisonic Mia, and a fabulous addition to your skin care routine. There is nothing to charge, as it runs on AA batteries. Harsh winter weather is coming, and exfoliation is a must for most. Pick up a Pro-X Cleansing system and keep your skin and season bright!

Neutrogena: On-The-Spot

Brand: Neutrogena

Product: On-The-Spot Acne Treatment

I’m running headlong into my late thirties, and I still get the occasional spot.  For the most part, my complexion is pretty clear, and my skin is very dry.  I don’t need a full-on acne treatment, but I do need to treat the spot.  For as long as I can remember I’ve been zapping those pesky zits with Neutrogena On-The-Spot.  I am a product junkie, but this and Dove Beauty Bar will always be in my arsenal.

What makes On-The-Spot special is it’s low dose of active ingredient Benzoyl Peroxide.  The product is only 2.5% BP, which makes it an ideal product for those with dry or sensitive skin.  Keep in mind, this is for spot treatments, and is not really meant for serious acne issues.  The product works beautifully for me. It shrinks my pimple significantly over one night.  By the second night my pimple is usually gone.  Wonderful results with a .75 ounce tube that costs only $5.99.  Spot gone, spot on.

L’Oreal Golden Balm: Recushions Like No Other

Brand:  L’Oreal

Product:  Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Golden Balm

I’m a bad, bad girl.   I break all the rules.  I drink Dr. Pepper 10 and skin care sub-brands marketed to the over-fifty set don’t scare me.  I have severely dry skin, and I will buy and use whatever gives it comfort.  Diane Keaton is awesome.  Who doesn’t want to be Diane Keaton?

I knew I would love golden Balm as soon as I laid eyes on the box.  I’m not into the “oil-free” skin care craze, so a product that boasts ten oils rocks my world.  But, truthfully, L’Oreal had me at the word “balm”.

In Golden Balm, L’Oreal has a product that is unduplicated on the drugstore shelves.  It is a thick, deeply moisturizing cream that brightens and re-cushions like no other cream I’ve ever tried.  It makes an ideal night cream for most, and a fabulous day cream for the driest of skin.

Golden Balm is great, but it would be even better if it were fragrance free.  The fact that the product is so thick already means that those with oily skin should avoid the product.  Those with sensitive skin will find the fragrance potentially irritating.  Also, there is no SPF in Golden Balm, so if you choose it as a day cream,  make sure your foundation has sufficient UV coverage.  Golden Balm can be found at drugstores nationwide and retails from $17.99-$19.99 for 1.7 ounce.
